Overview

The following general elective courses are *usually* offered in English (in addition to Korean) for 2 credits per course. Class availability is determined by individual departments, staffing, etc. and is beyond the scope of our office. It is possible that some semesters NOTHING is available in English.

How can I find the general elective courses?

In the Course Finder, but using a different menu to search - see the photo to the right.

Click:

  1. Radio button: (Practical foreign language/Liberal arts)

  2. The menu item that says "외국인을 위한 한국학(서울)".

Course sections taught in English

    • IELTS - overall band score of at least 6.0

    • TOEFL/TOEFL ITP - 550 or higher

      • computer-based 213 or higher

      • internet-based 80 or higher

    • TOEIC - 750 or higher

    • letter from a university professor familiar both with the student's ability to perform in an English-medium academic atmosphere.

Course sections taught in Korean

    • Korean Language Proficiency Required from the following options:

      • TOPIK 3

      • KLAT 150+ (B2)

      • 15 hours [4-5 classes] of university-level Korean language courses (e.g., Korean 101, 102, 201, 202, 301)

      • HUFS Intensive Korean Program Level 4 Certificate
